LOST HISTORY
A lot of the Dralic history has been lost along with the far-flung ruins of their predecessors. The Mo’anha islands have been drawn in history as the centre of the Ancient’s place of rest - making them the most sacred to the Dralic.
Having been so enclosed in their own culture; they’re not aware of any other of their kind surviving outside of the five combined regions. What little remains of their history - is scattered in ruins across the islands, condensed mostly on Aloha. Murals of magnificent creatures that tore skies and dominated the seas - crumble away as they’re reclaimed by nature itself.
YOUNGLINGS
After mating season, the females lay a single egg within 5 months of conception. After which, the egg with hatch within 3 months and bore a Dralic hatchling. The hatchling can not bare two elemental powers - if a Dralic from the Ka’Wai tribe mated with a Dralic from the Olha tribe, the youngling would only bare one of their traits, meaning they would reside on the island their elemental qualities bore from.
This leads to either the mother or the father being separated from their young. Over the years, Dralic have mostly mated with their own kind, to avoid the heartbreak of being separated from their young. Of course they are able to visit, but their duties demand they reside on their elemental islands to contribute to their clan and train their skills.
ANCIENTS
A mural that survived the many years since the Ancients ruled, portrays their divine appearance - they were the first of the Dralic kind, they built the ruined cities on the Aloha islands and left little traces of their existence scattered in the sands.
Tendrils of void spiralled from their backs and curled in the darkness, their bodies so large and statuesque, that footfalls of thunder could be heard by the neighbouring lands. Spheres of energy sparked between the tips of their protruding horns - they were beasts of the void.
The Tale of Aku'ha outlines the end of their existence - and how the first of the Dralic came into being. Whilst the legend is accused of speculation - it's what the Dralic believe to have happened and what the Elders teach them from a young age.
ELDERS
The Elders dwell on the Aloha islands, known to hold the most knowledge of their kind and are held in high regard. They choose an apprentice from each clan every third generation, to hand down their history and live on the desolate Aloha islands, away from their family and friends - keeping their heritage alive, but at a price.
Whilst they only know shreds of their past, what they teach is that they were bore from a curse that extinguished the ancients but created the first Dralic civilisation.
Whilst the Elders believe the Ancients were culled; and use this to render their damage on the world - there are those that would wish to return to their former glory, such as the Hewa Clan.
Because the Elders keep to their old ways, they know little of the desires that evolve within the younger generations.
MATING SEASON
The Dralic Elders hold mating season closely to tradition, the Elders of the Aloha Islands allow Dralic Clans; who have reached a certain age of fertility, to visit the sacred land for seven days. A festival is celebrated in the central ruins where younglings from all islands meet for the first time - it is during this festival that the hermaphrodites, males and females are duty-bound to find a bond-mate for life. They mark this occasion by marking their partner during the mating ritual, biting them along the joint of the neck and shoulder.
When boarding the Aloha islands, the Elders adorn the females with a white lotus symbolising their virginity, whilst the males are painted with a white streak across their bellies, to symbolise their virility. Hermaphrodites are marked with a white circle along their chests to symbolise their pure combination of both Female and Male genders. Traditionally, this celebration was used to breed the new generation.
However, over the years - the younger Dralic generations have evolved their desire for mating partners past the need to breed or conform to opposite-sex relations.
MARKINGS
Each clan has their own symbolic marking that represents their tribal nature. At the age of 16, each Dralic; of any gender - are bound to full-fill a duty that in some way helps their clan. If they succeed, a marking of their tribe is etched into their flesh. If they fail, they simply must wait until the next proving ceremony to prove their worth.
If a Draic chooses to leave the Mo'anha islands before or after their proving, they forfeit the right to participate in the provings, mating ritual or step on the Aloha Islands for the foreseeable future.
The marking paint, is made from crystal that grows on each of the islands - it’s crushed and mixed with the element of their tribe. The markings enhance their elemental connection and softly glow consistently. They're placed in the area of their bodies that connects greatly to there elemental connection - for example, Aciha have their markings on their bellies, Honua on thier legs etc.
